The Process

Initial Contact

After the initial call, we would arrange an obligation free initial meeting to see if I am the right Celebrant for you. At this meeting, we would get to know each other and discuss the type of ceremony that you want. I will explain my obligations to you and all the legal requirements that are involved.

If you do decide to engage my services, I will work with you to create a memorable and personalised ceremony. To achieve this we will discuss all the options and I will give you lots of ideas so that you have the information and knowledge and we can create exactly the style of ceremony you want. This will include sample ceremonies, readings, vows, music and further ideas of how to make your day truly amazing.

Complete the Notice of Intended Marriage

The next step will be to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage which is the legal document that must be signed and lodged with me a minimum of one month and no more than 18 months before the date of the Ceremony.

Please note: Both parties are required to give the minimum one month’s notice by signing and lodging the NIM. Exceptions may be made if one party is overseas or living interstate. However, both parties must sign and all legal documents must be sighted before a marriage can take place.

At this time, you will need to pay a non-refundable 50% deposit for me to book and hold the date and time for your Ceremony.

Planning the ceremony

From here we can meet again, and/or be in contact via telephone, Skype and email to put together your perfect ceremony.

Rehearsal

About 1 – 2 weeks before the marriage, a rehearsal should be held with those directly involved in the ceremony to make sure that everyone knows where they need to be and what they need to do on the day. This helps to reassure everyone and alleviate any nerves.

This is an ideal time to sign the Declaration of No Legal Impediment.

Please note: Under the Marriage Act 1961, you are required to sign a Declaration of No Legal Impediment. This is a legal document confirming that there is no legal impediment to your marriage, and must be signed by you both before the marriage can take place.

It is also a good idea to pay the final balance for my services at this time, as it is something that you don’t want to be thinking about on your Wedding Day.

Just before

I will contact you a day or two before to reconfirm everything and answer any last questions. Then on the day, I will arrive at the venue 45 mins to 1 hour before the ceremony to ensure that everything is set up and in place for your arrival, and will be there to greet you and your families and have the honour of being part of the most wonderful day of your lives.
